What to do with a Wonder of the World? : the puzzle of Petra [videorecording] / [lecture by Susan Alcock ; sponsored by the J. Paul Getty Museum].

Recently declared one of the "New Seven Wonders of the World," the Nabatean site of Petra in southern Jordan is a puzzle and paradox. While a "star" site of global heritage, it remains both poorly understood by scholars and poorly presented to visitors. In this lecture, Professor Susan Alcock shares recent research about the site and the surrounding landscape in light of her recent fieldwork as director of the Brown University Petra Archaeological Project.
